Imagine yourself exploring the stunning mountains that make up the Lake District. Rolling ridges, craggy mountain tops and shimmering lakes below your feet. The Lake District has breathtaking scenery and is steeped in history making it a fantastic place to explore and discover for yourself. Your guide will help choose routes that suit the group leaving you feeling challenged yet inspired and wanting to do even more!


Occupying 885 square miles of scenic splendor, England’s Lake District is a National Park containing the highest peaks, deepest valleys and longest lakes in the country. The natural beauty of its picturesque villages and emerald green hills and vales enthralls walkers. Breathe in the stunning vistas and peaceful scenery, and connect with the history of the Lakeland.


The walks are aimed at experienced walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. The routes will be between 7 and 9 miles per day with between 1,000 and 2,000 feet of ascent overall. If you are not sure if you are suitable for this tour please get in touch with us to discuss your ability and we can advise you further.

Your guide will help choose routes that suit the group leaving you feeling challenged yet inspired and wanting to do even more!

Day 1 Arrive at Penrith railway station to get a transfer to our hotel for the first half of our trip. In the afternoon take a walk with your guide in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley.

Evening meal with your guide and the chance to talk about the week ahead.

 

Day 2: Today we head over the Honister pass into the Buttermere and Crummock Water Valley for some fantastic walking! With views of jewel like lakes and rolling mountain ridges.

 

Day 3: The Ullswater Valley has some of the most famous as well as most challenging mountains in the Lake District. Today we will explore this picturesque area.

 

Day 4: We will now head to the southern Lake District today. We will walk from the village of Grasmereand head into the hills that surround this quintessential Lakeland village made famous by some of its past residents. We will be based for the rest of the trip here in Grasmere.

 

Day 5:  Coniston Water reflects the beauty and grandeur of the hills that rise above it. These hills offersome fantastic walking with craggy mountain tops and high mountain lakes to inspire any walker.

 

Day 6: Our final day of walking, and we are spoilt for choice. Depending on the group, weather and peoples desires we can either head to the famous Langdale valley or the quieter and more remote Kentdale for our final walk on this magical week! Tonight you will enjoy a final dinner with  your guide and reflect on your amazing week of exploration.

 

Day 7: Depart after breakfast, on you own arrangements. 

 

Accommodation: You will stay in two comfortable hotels during your stay, the Borrowdale Gates Hotel and The Grand at Grasmere.

Traveling By Rail

There are direct trains from Manchester Airport to both Penrith and Windermere, though at certain times of day the quickest option may involve a change of train at Preston, Lancaster or Oxenholme.

From Windermere to the hotel will take about 50 minutes in a taxi, and from Penrith about 40 minutes.

 

Both journeys are possible by bus, but both will require one change at Keswick.
