This self-guided hiking tour explores the full length of the Great Glen Way National Trail from Fort William to Inverness. This epic 73-mile walk encounters the iconic British landmarks of Ben Nevis and Loch Ness, along with fantastic scenery to enjoy.
As you cross the breadth of Scotland from coast to coast, expect a unique mixture of beautiful views, charming settlements, elusive wildlife and fascinating history, making for an all-round magnificent walking adventure.
Great Glen Way offers a rewarding walking challenge. The route starts from Fort William, a popular adventure town, to the historic City of Inverness,
Fort William is at the base of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, you will follow the Caledonian Canal, then you’ll continue up Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Kytra Lock. The Great Glen Way then follows the western shore of Loch Ness passing by the highland towns of Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit until you reach Inverness. Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness is a must see.
The is a moderate route with 7 days of walking providing views of the Lochs of the Great Glen and the surrounding Highlands. Most of the walk is straightforward, along canal towpaths and forest tracks, with minimal sections that are technically challenging.
Given the nature and logistics of self-guided tours we will book your accommodations upon reserving your tour. We will carefully select hotels, inns and B&B's.

Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit. 14 miles (22km)
Day 7
Drumnadrochit to Blackfold(T). 12 miles (19km)
Day 9
Blackfold(T) to Inverness. 6 miles (10km)

Note: The journey up the West Highland line to Fort William, and on to Mallaig, is described as “one of the world’s most dramatic and scenic railway lines”. The approximate time of the journey from Glasgow to Fort William is 4 hours.
